Invoicing in euro in Bulgaria from 2026

The essentials

• Fixed rate: 1 euro = 1.95583 leva.
• Invoices issued from 1 January 2026 are issued in euro.
• The lev and the euro circulated together until 31 January 2026.
• Prices are displayed in both euro and leva until 8 August 2026.

Converting prices from leva to euro

Divide the amount in leva by 1.95583 and round to two decimal places – to the cent. If the third decimal is 5 or more, round up.

Example: 100.00 BGN ÷ 1.95583 = 51.129… → €51.13.

Convert unit prices, not only totals; otherwise rounding each line can leave a few cents’ difference against the total. The cleanest option is to set your new prices directly in euro.

Can an invoice also show leva?

Invoice amounts are in euro. During the dual display period many companies also show the lev equivalent, for information only. Ask your accountant how to handle specific cases, such as corrections to invoices issued in 2025.

Invoices in another currency

You can invoice in US dollars or another currency, but the VAT amount must also be stated in euro, at the official rate on the tax point date.
